Go English - Mother Mentor Program

Making friends, making a difference

The Go English Mother Mentor program is designed to help international moms adapt to and enjoy Canadian life. Local women volunteer as mentors for mothers participating in the Go English program. The program has practical and social elements to it. Mother Mentors are available to:

  • go out for coffee or to see a movie
  • help with day-to-day tasks like banking and shopping
  • give informal English conversation lessons
  • help with paperwork (eg. bills)
  • act as a tour guide for local attractions and events
  • help with trips to the doctor, dentist, etc.
  • assist with registration for clubs and sports
  • be a friend!

The Mother Mentor program was designed to give Go English participants the support they need to maximize their study abroad experience. Kimberley is a friendly community committed to international education. The Mother Mentor program gives local women the chance to meet and get to know international visitors and to help them enjoy their stay in Canada. All Mother Mentor volunteers have taken a TESOL for TOURISM workshop for further enhance their ability to assist and support international moms. NOTE  Go English participants that include a father in addition to or instead of a mother have access to this program as well.
